Summary
The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is looking for a senior financial specialist to join the business services team. You are someone with experience in organization-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight. Under the direction of the chief financial officer (our organizational chart), you will help develop the college-wide budget proposal to the Provost's Office, provide accounting oversight for the endowment valued at over $127M, and transform data into meaningful information through analysis, verification, and visual/contextual reporting.
This job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is expected three days a week, with a few fully remote weeks throughout the academic year and a fully remote period from mid-May to mid-August.
Responsibilities*
- Partner with the CFO and financial manager to prepare college wide organizational budgets.
- Provide direct accounting oversight of $127M in endowment and scholarship funds.
- Work with the financial manager to develop a real-time financial modeling system, including the development of the variable assumption logic for the model.
- Extract and interpret financial, HR, student, donor data and analyze results and communicate information in easy to understand terms.
- Participate in strategic assessments and establish business intelligence solutions with a focus on quantitative methods, modeling, and analytical techniques.
- Create detailed reports and analyses of funds including the oversight of fiscal procedures.
- Provide projections of unit operating budgets and monitor financial reports for budget compliance.
- Maintain the scheduling of financial reports, updating recipients and report criteria.
- Provide backup support for payment approvals, internal controls and other financial tasks.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Significant work experience creating/monitoring complex budgets, advanced proficiency using Excel (can perform complex functions), financial reporting tools and financial systems, and visualization/analytics
- Proficiency in query and report writing tools, data visualization techniques for reporting purposes, developing dashboards and reports
